Gas and electricity

Our customers manage their own gas and electricity supplies. Bills are sent from your supplier and you pay them direct.

When you first move into your home, it will already be supplied by Scottish and Southern Electric but you can change to another supplier once you move in.

It’s always worth checking the market every year for the best energy supply deals to suit you. The website moneysavingexpert.com has useful information and there are a number of widely advertised comparison sites to try.

Water

Affinity Water supplies water to most of our homes. If you have a water meter, Affinity Water will bill you directly for your standing charge (the cost to provide the supply) and your usage.

If you don’t have a water meter, Affinity Water will bill us and we’ll pass these charges on to you. We will collect water charges together with your service charge and will forward the water charge to your water supplier on your behalf. It’s worth remembering that Housing Benefit does not cover your water bill.

We have negotiated a discount on the water charges that we collect on behalf of Affinity Water. If you’d prefer a water meter though, please contact us. We can check our records and approve the change to the property before you ring Affinity Water. We can also update our records so you don’t get charged by Affinity Water as well as us by mistake.
