We welcomed Bim Afolami, Conservative MP for Hitchin and Harpenden, to our new shared-ownership homes in Chaucer Way, Hitchin on Friday 4 May to see the positive impact that building affordable housing is having on the local community.
The four, 2 bedroom homes have been recently bought on a part buy-part rent basis which helps families get a foot on the housing ladder with a smaller, more affordable mortgage.
We want to make sure that new occupants are as comfortable as possible by providing them with a fridge, washing machine and oven.
Shaun Holdcroft, executive director at North Hertfordshire Homes said: “Providing homes that are truly affordable means we can help families live the life they choose. Those families will shop locally and have children who attend local schools. Additionally, by using local employers like RJB Builders to construct the homes we continue to invest our resources in the community with which we work.”
Bim Afolami said: “I was impressed with the quality of the homes and hear they’ve all been purchased by people already living in Hitchin. We need more of these residences locally and I’m going to be working with North Hertfordshire Homes, local Council and the skilled builders and engineers involved to make the dream a reality.”
