Nightingale Park celebrates a summer of success
We had a brilliant day at Nightingale Park in Baldock on Friday 24 July, when around 170 residents came together to celebrate the park’s amazing transformation.
Nicola Price and a team of Blackhorse Road volunteers threw open the gates with garden games, ice creams and drinks for everyone to enjoy. Local Councillor Alastair Willoughby joined in the fun, along with North Herts Council’s Community Safety team, the police and the fire brigade.
The party marked the finish of a huge project to give the park a new lease of life. Working in collaboration with a steering group of local residents meeting in the evenings, a plan for the regeneration was created. Thanks to their hard work, the park now has four brilliant areas: a children’s play area, a fitness circuit, a relaxed space with seating, and a wildlife area.
Nicola said: “I think this has been the most successful resident event I’ve been to. It was super to see so many people join in, enjoying the park and talking to each other. It may have taken a long time to get this completed, but it was definitely worth the effort.”
Residents agree. Craig told us: “My kids love the new playground! Exercise equipment is great too.” And Mandy said: “It’s a great park because it feels so safe.”
