How our Money Advice Team supported Antony
Antony says the support he received from the Money Advice Team made a real difference to his life.
Asking for help wasn’t something that he naturally did -he had always managed things himself, even when it felt difficult, so reaching out was a big step.
“Now I would ask for help again if I need I,” he said. They [the Money Advice Team] helped me sort things out and explained everything clearly. They were really good.”
When Antony first contacted the service, he was worried about his finances and they had begun to affect his mental health.
With the support of Jess, one of our Money Advice Partners, things began to feel clearer and more manageable. Having someone take the time to explain his options and talk things through made a noticeable difference.

It’s reduced my stress and anxiety – it’s really helped me.
Through conversations with Jess, Antony also gained a better understanding of what he was entitled to at work – information he hadn’t previously been fully aware of. Having clarity around this helped him feel more in control of his situation.
Antony described the service as friendly and approachable, saying he felt comfortable speaking openly about his circumstances.
“[Jess is] Very friendly and helpful. I felt relaxed as I could sit down and have a chat about everything.”
Looking back, he says he wishes he had known about the service sooner and was surprised by what support was available to him.
“If I could, I would give Jess 20/10. She is always on time or early to appointments and fitted me in quickly.”
For other residents who might feel unsure about asking for help, Antony’s advice is “Contact Settle, as it’s been a great help to me.”
