Ways to help with water costs

Affinity Water supplies clean water to most homes managed by us. You can find out ways to reduce your water usage and apply for free water saving devices through their Save Our Streams campaign. It’s open to everyone – all you need to do is enter your postcode and complete a short survey about how you use water in your home.

For residents on a water meter or waiting to have one installed: Citizens Advice have information on WaterSure, a scheme that helps some people with their water bills. To apply for the scheme, you must be on benefits and need to use a lot of water either for medical reasons or because your household has a certain number of school-age children. To find out if you qualify for WaterSure, go to Citizens Advice and search WaterSure.

For residents who pay a fixed water charge: If you receive Universal Credit or Housing Benefit you are eligible for a water discount from Affinity Water. If you pay your water charges through us (at the same time as your rent) let us know so we can apply for the discount on your behalf. Contact Affinity Water if you pay your water charges direct to them. The water discount is applied annually by Affinity Water and you will need to notify them (or us) if you stop receiving Housing Benefit or Universal Credit.
