Formed in 2006, we were created to receive and invest in homes transferred from North Hertfordshire District Council as part of the local authority stock transfer movement. Originally called North Hertfordshire Homes, we successfully delivered a substantial programme of investment and successfully delivered on a plethora of other promises to improve services to transferring tenants and leaseholders.
Following the completion of our transfer investment programme, we have sought to grow beyond our original boundaries. We now own homes over large parts of both Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire. In 2018, we changed our name to settle, reflecting our growth outside of North Hertfordshire and what we consider a home to be about; providing affordability and stability to allow people to thrive.
We’ve got a clear purpose at settle – to help people who are struggling to find a place to live; to help them stay in their homes comfortably to live the lives they choose.
To help us achieve this, in addition to government funding we raise long-term finance from banks and institutional investors and are committed to ensuring that we remain financially robust, at all times.
This is evidenced by our G1 VI rating and a strong private rating from Standard and Poor’s.
