Settle joins community partners for fun day in Jackmans

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting residents in our neighbourhoods, Settle recently took part in a Community Fun Day in the Jackmans neighbourhood, one of the largest areas we work in. The event was organised by North Herts Police in collaboration with local partners.
The event provided an opportunity for residents to come together, enjoy a relaxed afternoon, and take part in a range of family-friendly activities including arts and crafts, face painting, a toy swap, and demonstrations around bike safety and repairs. There were also opportunities to find out more about local health walks and explore volunteering opportunities in the area.
Residents also had the chance to speak with various support agencies offering guidance on health and wellbeing, including Herts Fire and Rescue, Herts Help, Citizens Advice, Alzheimer’s UK, and the local police.
Building community connections

Hannah, Neighbourhood Coach at Settle, said:
Events like these are key to getting out into our neighbourhoods, listening to feedback from residents, and reminding them about the support we can offer through working with local partners… It was great to see people of all ages there and to connect with other agencies about the continued support we can give to residents.
PC Callum Ellis, organiser of the event, added:
Today has been all about community engagement, bringing everyone in the Jackmans neighbourhood together so they can see the networks and agencies available to support them. It’s great to have Settle here to address any housing concerns.

The event was well attended by local residents, including Councillor Sadie Billing, who brought along her children and praised the positive community spirit:
“I really enjoyed the community picnic, it was great to see such a good turnout and everyone coming together. It was a lovely, relaxed afternoon. Days like this remind me why I love our community and why I wanted to help support it.”
