Free Letchworth Garden Shed memberships for Settle residents have been extended for another year

Free membership for Settle residents at Letchworth Garden Shed has been extended for until mid-2027, thanks to the continued support of the Shed’s Board of Trustees.
Letchworth Garden Shed, based in Letchworth, North Hertfordshire, has been open since August 2023 and is a community “Library of things”. Members can borrow useful things for their home, projects and even outdoor adventures, instead of having to buy them.
With around 900 items available, you can borrow everything from DIY tools, gardening equipment and kitchen appliances to camping gear, sports equipment and arts and crafts supplies. There are also baby and children’s items, pet equipment, mobility aids, vehicle accessories and music and audio-visual kit. The collection continues to grow as new items are added to meet the needs of the local community.
Settle residents can continue to access free annual membership and will only need to cover the cost of the items they borrow. Items are available for £1, £4 or £8 per week. Settle residents outside of Hitchin, Baldock and Letchworth are also eligible for the free membership offer.
Joe Williams, Executive Director of Customer Services at Settle said:
We’re really grateful to Letchworth Garden Shed for extending free membership for residents. Schemes like this help people save money by borrowing items when they need them, without the upfront cost of buying, and they also help cut down on waste.
