Reminder: always check ID when someone says they’re from Settle

Settle colleague knocking on a residents' door.

Residents are being reminded to stay alert and check identification following a recent report of someone falsely claiming to be working on behalf of Settle.

We’ve been made aware of an individual approaching a resident and offering to carry out work for cash while stating they were linked to Settle. This was not a visit from one of our colleagues or contractors.

How to stay safe

A genuine Settle colleague will always be clearly identifiable:

  • They will carry official identification
  • Their ID will include their name and a Settle-branded card
  • You can always ask to see identification before allowing anyone into your home

If someone approaches you and you’re unsure, do not let them in until you’ve verified who they are.

If they claim to be a contractor and you were not expecting a visit, please check with our Customer Hub on 0330 343 0016.

If in doubt, check

A genuine Settle colleague will always be able to show identification with their name on a Settle-branded card. If you’re ever unsure, contact our Customer Hub on 0330 343 0016 to confirm.

If something doesn’t feel right or you’re concerned about a visit, please report it to us and contact the police.
