About the Settle housing census
About the Settle housing census
At Settle, we’re committed to providing services that meet the needs of all residents.
To help us do this, during 2025, we’re carrying out a census of the information we hold about each of our tenants and their households.
Having the right information helps us to understand who’s living in each home and what support residents may need. We’re also legally required to keep this information accurate, relevant and regularly updated. Each census question is included because we either need the information to meet our responsibilities as your landlord, or to help us understand how best to support tenants.
Your personal details are protected under our privacy notice.
Frequently Asked Questions
We want to provide services that meet the needs of the current residents in each home. We often find that families grow up, move out or new additions move in. We’re legally required to keep this information accurate.
Yes – we have a legal basis for asking these questions as landlords are legally required to keep accurate information on people living in rented homes.
All questions will have a ‘Prefer not to say’ or a ‘Next’ option. Naturally, having as much information as possible helps us to understand who’s living in each home and what support residents may need.
We have over 20,000 people in our households, so we’re rolling out the census in different ways. This first phase is for residents who are signed up to our Settle Connect online community. We’ll then be contacting other residents where we have an email address in our household management system. For residents without email, we’ll be collecting details in other ways during the year.
No – We have a legal responsibility to keep accurate information about residents in each home and as many new regulations have taken affect in the last few years, now is a good time to hold a housing census.
We have run census-type activity on different groups of tenants before. We also continually update our information when tenants call in or we visit. As many new regulations have taken affect in the last few years, now is a good time to hold a housing census across all our 10,000+ homes.
At this stage, we’re asking residents with email addresses to fill in the Settle housing census online. It’s quick, simple and cost effective.
Don’t worry if you can’t fill it in online, need assistance or would prefer to speak with someone. We’ll be in touch later in the year.
We’ll also be in touch with residents who don’t have an email address later in the year.
