Resident hub at Icknield Way gets a fresh new look

The inside of our community resident hub at 51A Icknield Way in Letchworth has had a fresh new look, thanks to colleagues from our Regeneration Team and support from volunteers at Lovell Group.
The hub is an important space for the local community ahead of future redevelopment plans for Campfield Way, Highover Road and Icknield Way and is used by Settle colleagues, North Herts Council and residents for weekly coffee mornings, resident steering group meetings, one-to-one meetings and other community events. Earlier this year, a coffee morning held at the hub raised money for charity.
Lovell has worked alongside Settle on previous developments, and as part of their commitment to responsible business provided a team of volunteers to help redecorate the building and covered the cost of materials. The work was led by Ian Jones, Operations Manager at Lovell, who coordinated the activity across the week.

Together, Lovell volunteers and Settle colleagues whitewashed the hall and two meeting rooms, brightening the space and helping it feel more welcoming and comfortable for everyone who uses it while our wider regeneration plans progress.
Helen Pearson, Head of Regeneration at Settle said:
We are very grateful to our contractor partner, Lovell, for their support in helping us to transform this community hub. Regeneration is about more than bricks and mortar, it’s about creating spaces where people are able to come together and thrive. The decorations have brightened the space, providing a welcoming environment for meetings and events in this space as we progress with our regeneration project on this site. This has been a fantastic example of what can be achieved when we work collaboratively to support our communities.

Ian Jones, Operations Manager at Lovell added:
This project reflects the best of our partnership with Settle: practical support, shared values, and a genuine commitment to local people. I’m grateful to our volunteers for giving their time, and glad we could help revitalise a space that means so much to the community.

Our planning application was submitted to North Herts Council at the beginning of 2024. The proposals include 157 new affordable homes, with a mix of 1–5 bedroom apartments, terraced, semi-detached and detached houses. The plans also include fully accessible flats, houses and bungalows to respond to local need. We remain in regular contact with the North Herts Council Planning Case Officer and you can follow updates on progress on our Campfield Way, Highover Road & Icknield Way web page.|

We host a weekly coffee morning every Tuesday, 10am – 11.30am at 51A Icknield Way. Members of our Regeneration team are there to answer questions and speak with residents about the redevelopment plans. Local police also drop in regularly, using the coffee mornings as an opportunity to connect with residents and support community engagement.
