Update on planning application for Campfield Way, Highover Road and Icknield Way

We’re pleased to share that the planning application for the redevelopment of homes at Campfield Way, Highover Road and Icknield Way in Letchworth Garden City has been approved in principle by North Herts Council, with formal approval to follow once final legal processes are complete.
The scheme proposes up to 157 new affordable homes, including a mix of apartments, houses and bungalows ranging from one to five bedrooms. The plans also include fully accessible homes, private outdoor space for each property, and parking provision, reflecting both local need and the character of the town. You can read our previous news story for more background information.
The application was considered by North Herts Council’s Planning Control Committee on 16 April, where members voted in support of the proposal.
Speaking at the Planning Control Committee meeting, Helen Pearson, Head of Regeneration at SettleParadigm, said:
A home is far more than four walls and a roof. It’s where families put down roots and people feel safe and supported.
The homes at Campfield Way have served the community well for many years, but regeneration gives us the opportunity to provide modern, high-quality homes that meet today’s needs and will support future generations.
These final steps can take some time, and we’ll continue to provide updates to residents, including when we expect to move forward with the next stages of the project.
If you’d like to speak to us or ask any questions, the Regeneration team will be available at our weekly coffee morning, held every Tuesday from 10–11.30am at 51a Icknield Way.
