Planning application submitted for Campfield Way, Highover Road & Icknield Way

We are pleased to confirm we have submitted the planning application to North Herts Council to redevelop homes at Campfield Way, Highover Road and Icknield Way (49A to 75B odd numbers only) in Letchworth Garden City.

Proposals for the new development include 157 new affordable homes with a variety of 1 and 5 -bedroom apartments, terraced, semi-detached and detached houses. The scheme will also provide fully accessible flats, houses and bungalows in direct response to need.

Every property will have access to an outdoor area, either through a private garden or balcony together with parking.

Since we launched proposals to redevelop the homes in the area in 2021, we’ve engaged and worked with local residents, partners and the community and held five public consultations. The most recent consultation took place in November 2023 which included an exhibition with key plans and designs for the new homes. These are available to view on our engagement platform.

Fiona Coulson, Executive Director of Development at settle said: “We’re really pleased to have reached this stage where the planning application has now been submitted. We’d really like to thank the local residents and partners for working with us to get plans to this stage, particularly residents living in the area for their continued engagement.

We’ve listened to feedback to ensure the designs of the new homes fits the needs of residents and are also in line with the unique design of Letchworth Garden City. We encourage residents to continue to share their views now on the planning so that we can progress plans to redevelop new affordable homes in this area of Letchworth.”

It is expected that the planning application will shortly be live on the North Herts Council website. North Herts residents can then provide feedback directly on the planning application for a period of 21 days. We will add another update on our website when the consultation is live.
