Parking, storage and access
Parking, storage and access
We can help with some parking and vehicle problems, such as issues in our car parks, allocated parking bays, or cars parked on grass verges.
Other issues, like problems on public roads or with abandoned cars not on our land, need to be reported to your local council or the police.
Common parking issues:
-
- Not enough spaces: Most parking is on a first-come, first-served basis. We ask neighbours to be considerate.
-
- Someone in your allocated space: We’d encourage you to speak to your neighbour in the first instance in case they were not aware this was an allocated space, or to let any visitors know they shouldn’t park there. For any persistent problems, please contact us.
-
- Blocked car or garage / parked too close / too many cars in a street: We cannot manage this. Please contact 101 for blocked access, or try politely discussing the issue with neighbours.
-
- Vehicle without MOT, tax or insurance: Report it using the GOV report an untaxed vehicle form.
-
- Vehicle damage: Report to your insurance company and the police if necessary.
-
- Cars on grass verges: Contact us with details and location. We will work with the police to resolve this.
Also see the paving and driveways section on the repair responsibilities page.
If you notice an abandoned vehicle in your neighbourhood, please contact us. We work with the police to remove vehicles that are:
- Not properly taxed or insured
- Causing a public nuisance or danger
If the vehicle is not on our land, we will refer you to your local council.
Communal areas including corridors and staircases are fire evacuation routes, even small items can be a fire or trip hazard, so nothing should be stored here.
Do not leave:
- Pushchairs and trolleys
- Mobility scooters
- Bikes, scooters, and children’s toys
- Rubbish (even temporarily)
- Pictures with glass fronts
- Furniture, rugs, or plant pots.
If you have any large items to dispose of, please contact your local council who usually offer a removal service.
If we find an item in a communal area, we’ll put a sticker on it to ask that it’s removed by a set date. If it’s not removed by then, we’ll take the item away. If we can identify the owner we’ll charge the removal cost to them. If we can’t, we’ll split the cost between everyone in the block.
We respond to problems on land we own or manage. For issues like potholes, loose paving, or broken street lighting, please report them to your local council.
A quick way to do this is via FixMyStreet. FixMyStreet is an independent service that helps anyone report local issues without needing to know council boundaries or responsibilities.
