Steps towards more sustainable neighbourhoods

We’re committed to working in a sustainable way across all that we do at settle, making sure this delivers real benefits for residents and neighbourhoods.

The government has put in place sustainability targets that landlords like settle must meet, including for all homes to achieve EPC Energy Band C by 2030.

We had already started working towards these targets, in 2019/20 committing an extra £16 million by 2025 to help us achieve them.

As part of our work towards this, we are delighted to have set up the ‘Greener Herts’ partnership with two other housing associations, B3 Living and Watford Community Housing. Between us, we own and manage over 20,000 homes.

Through this partnership we will identify ways we can work together to improve the energy efficiency of our homes, follow more environmentally friendly construction techniques and adopt other more sustainable ways of working.

We recently launched our first joint sustainability initiative across all of the homes owned by settle, B3 Living and Watford Community Housing. Energy-saving specialists WarmFront have completed external surveys across properties to find out which ones would need extra insulation to help boost their energy efficiency.
Where we can see that properties would benefit from additional insulation, we will get in touch with residents directly to confirm the next steps for each individual property.

More information out about the partnership is on the Greener Herts website. If you would like to share your ideas and get involved with projects, you could join our Green Resident Panel. Send us an email expressing your interest and one of our colleagues will get back to you.
