Progress in making homes more energy efficient in 2024/25

We are on track to have completed work on 423 homes – helping to make them warmer, more comfortable and energy efficient. Through the Government’s Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund [SHDF] Wave 2, we have been able to bring these homes up to Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) Band C. Improvements have included external and internal wall insulation, loft insulation, and the installation of solar panels.
As of June 2025, we estimate this investment is saving residents across Settle around £161,000 a year in energy bills. It’s also helping us reduce our environmental impact – cutting 444 tonnes of CO₂ emissions every year.
Wave 3 funding
We have also secured nearly £11m through the latest round of Warm Homes funding announced by the Government earlier this year. This funding is a huge step forward in our commitment to improving the quality and comfort of residents’ homes.
Our Managing Director, Dean Anderson added:
“Bringing properties to EPC C as quickly as possible remains a priority. We’re looking forward to continuing our work to investing in Settle homes and seeing the positive impact this additional funding will have, helping us make many more homes warmer, greener and more affordable to live in.”
Margaret’s experience
Margaret’s home was selected for improvement works under SHDF Wave 2 to help bring it to EPC C. As part of the upgrades which took place in December 2023, external wall insulation was fitted to both the front and back of the property, along with loft insulation. Heating controls, new fans, low energy and lighting were also included.
“I’m very pleased with the result. Before, the house would lose heat quickly once the heating was turned off. Since the insulation was installed, the house retains its heat and my heating bills have definitely reduced.
“There was a bit of disruption while work was carried outb at the front and back of the house, but it was done quickly and with minimal upheaval. I’m really happy with the outcome – and I think the front of the house looks lovely now!”
