Residents can now self-refer for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

PING CBT for residents

We all go through times when life feels difficult, overwhelming or just harder to manage. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, low mood, panic, stress linked to health conditions, or certain fears and worries, reaching out for support can be an important first step.

Residents can now self-refer for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) – a practical, supportive talking therapy that helps you understand how your thoughts, feelings and behaviours are connected, and gives you tools to manage them more positively.

CBT can help with a range of issues, including:

  • anxiety
  • mild to moderate depression,
  • OCD
  • panic
  • specific phobias
  • single-incident PTSD
  • some longer-term health-related emotional difficulties

After you refer yourself, you will be offered an initial triage call to talk through your needs and see whether this service is the right fit for you. If it is not, you may be guided towards more suitable support.

Appointments are usually arranged weekly and may take place in person, by phone or online, depending on what is agreed. The service is delivered by therapists completing a postgraduate qualification who already have relevant qualifications and experience, and who are supported in their practice.

If you feel this could benefit you, you can complete the referral form here.

Please note, this service is not suitable for urgent mental health crises or emergencies. If you need immediate help, please contact your GP, emergency services, or the appropriate crisis support service straight away.
